MELODY, John (JJ), Senior Detective Sergeant NBCI (retired). Rosanule, Castleknock, Co. Dublin, formerly of, Rathangan, Co. Kildare; St Martin’s Bungalow, Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin; and Fanore, Co. Clare. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved and wonderful John, a precious husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbour. John passed peacefully on the 14th March 2024 aged 75 in the care of the staff in Gormanston Wood Nursing Home after a long illness. John was surrounded by his family and dear friends and he passed peacefully as they held him closely. He will be forever missed by his loving wife Suzanne, his sons Dáibhid, Colin, Ciarán and Diarmuid, his daughters-in-law, Jamie, Catherine and Ailbhe, his grandchildren Arianna, Ethan and Lara, his brothers and sisters and their families, his sisters- and brothers-in-law and their families, his very dear friends the Butterly family, and his many other wonderful friends and neighbours. My lovely John, I now return you to the loving embrace of your dear mother Catherine Broughan Melody, whom you loved deeply, and your dear father JohnJoe, a true Clare man. I thank you both for the loan of your beautiful son, whom I loved with all my heart. Together, with your brother Paddy you will reminisce of all the fun you had and we will remember you for forever and a day. May John rest in peace. Reposing at his son’s residence, Drumcondra this evening (Tuesday March 19th) between 6 pm and 9 pm. Removal tomorrow morning (Wednesday March 20th) to St. Columba’s Church, Iona Road arriving for Funeral Mass at 10.30 am followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.
